Christian Duve

Prof Dr Christian Duve acts as mediator, negotiator and arbitrator as well as strategic advisor in domestic and international disputes. For over 20 years, Christian was a partner and lawyer with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, a leading international law firm. During this time, Christian gathered broad experience in resolving commercial disputes and leading fact-finding missions. For example, in 2015/2016, Christian led an investigation on behalf of the German Football Association (DFB) regarding the question of whether potential irregularities affected the tender for the FIFA World Cup 2006 in Germany. Christian has sat as an arbitrator in more than 100 arbitration proceedings and served as counsel in about 40 arbitration proceedings. In commercial disputes, his main focus areas are post M&A-disputes, joint venture disputes and other corporate disputes. Christian has also mediated numerous commercial mediation cases. Recurring themes are, for example, disputes among shareholders, the search for an orderly dissolution of joint ventures, an adjustment of long-term business relationships and dealing with unexpected economic circumstances. In his capacity as a board member of the German Bar Association (Deutscher Anwalt Verein, DAV), Christian leads a task force on Legal Tech.
